The Pike Place Market WaterFront Entrance is an exciting expansion of Seattle’s iconic Pike Place Market and will someday connect to the soon to be redeveloped Central Waterfront. The project replaces a parking lot and former site of the Municipal Market Building with a dynamic plaza, market vendor spaces, retail, and affordable senior housing. With open westward views of Elliott Bay, the new public spaces create much-needed gathering and event space for the market, seating for hanging out to take in the sunset, and ethno-botanical plantings on both levels. Our work included blending the future waterfront plans with the market’s gritty character to create spaces and connections that highlight the best features of both iconic places.
