Edmonds Private Estate

Edmonds, WA

This six-acre Woodway estate blends the elegant simplicity of a contemporary home with an equestrian aficionado’s dream. Working in concert with the owner and the architect, the house was carefully sited to take full advantage of winter sunlight and to preserve as many of the large, native Western red cedar and Douglas fir as possible. The two pastures, barn and gardens were created through thoughtful grading and the use of indigenous granite to tie the site to the house. A variety of garden spaces were conceived and created to offer both contemplative spaces as well as other opportunities that would indulge the senses, provide active recreation, cater to the owner’s passion for horses, and provide a collection of woody plant materials as notable as many public gardens.

Our clients asked us to update the grounds to address the mature tree canopy and the wear and tear of a new dog.
