Tag us with your Ideas for Smith Cove Park
Community members from the Magnolia, Belltown, and Interbay neighborhoods gathered for a public outreach event to kick off the conceptual planning for Smith Cove Park, located along the waterfront of the west end of Elliott Bay, adjacent to the Seattle cruise ship terminal. To encourage active participation from attendees with widely ranging interests in site programming opportunities, we invited everyone to write their ideas on tags that were then pinned to their respective locations on an aerial image of the park or within programming images such as soccer, bicycling, and kayaking.
After recording hundreds of comments, the tags were laminated and tied to a chain-link fence at the park site for the attendees of the second public meeting to review while also generating more interest for those passing through the park unaware of the ongoing design process. An ecologist was on hand during the beautiful, sunny day to share history and ecological treasures with attendees along the tidal flats at low tide.
