Phase 2 of the Redmond Central Connector opens on September 23, 2017. This 1.3-mile section includes the Sammamish River Trestle, an abandoned railroad trestle crossing the Sammamish River, which was given renewed life as a multipurpose trail. Entering the trestle, plinths graced by Redmond’s poet laureate welcome you to Redmond. Steel panels on the trestle’s leanrails tell the human story of the railroad and the convergence of earth, water, and air, depicting native species currently and historically found at this river crossing. The leanrails carry a QR code expanding these stories digitally.
