To build momentum and excitement for the master plan process, the City of Olympia and Berger collaborated on a series of fun curated signs to post throughout the park. These early win signs, coupled with comprehensive web-based invites and notifications, attracted more than 120 enthusiastic community members excited to share their hopes and dreams at the first public meeting, which was held in the park. Attendees learned about the outreach process and shared their ideas with a handful of consultant team members and city staff. They were encouraged to fill out surveys either on paper at the meeting or on the city’s public outreach website. Public input gathered at the meeting and via the web-based survey will inform initial design concepts for the park, which will be unveiled Winter 2019/2020.
