Georgetown Wet Weather Treatment Station, a gateway landmark for its neighborhood, will treat up to 70-million gallons of combined sewage overflow per day. An integrative design approach between King County, the design team, and the community advisory group resulted in an Envision Platinum Certified infrastructure project that improves the community’s quality of life and the health of the Duwamish River, resulting in ecological, economic, and social return on investments. 

In addition to designing green infrastructure that collects all rainwater onsite, the role of the landscape architect was to reflect the history and character of the Georgetown neighborhood, implement ecological and sustainability goals, and optimize opportunities to showcase and interpret the inner workings of the treatment plant while integrating the massive facility into the neighborhood context.
